Jammu: 82 test positive for dengue

As many as 82 patients tested positive of dengue so far across Jammu region, a health department official in Jammu said on 20th September.
''As a total of 82 cases have been tested positive so far this year from various parts of Jammu region,'' a senior official in Directorate of Health told UNI. He said that the highest number of patients tested positive were from Samba district. According to an official of Health Department as on 20th September, about 680 samples of suspected dengue patients have been taken for testing and out of them 620 were examined.
''Out of 620 tested samples, 82 were found positive while no death has been reported due to dengue so far'', he further said. Earlier on 19th September, 75 dengue cases were tested positive, the highest number of 24 cases have been reported from Jammu district, followed by Samba where 23 cases have been found positive. ''The Department is taking all necessary measures to further prevent the spread of dengue in Jammu,'' he stated, adding, the main cause of dengue was stagnant water and the department was spreading awareness among the masses to prevent stagnation of water.
