Widespread recent increases in county-level heart disease mortality across age groups
Annals of Epidemiology Nov 11, 2017
Vaughan AS, et al. - This work was planned to assess recent county level trends in heart disease mortality by age group. Researchers observed that recent national trends of decelerating declines in heart disease mortality masked the local increases. These increases were more evident among adults younger than age 65 years which represent challenges to communities across the country. They recommended intensification of primary and secondary preventionÂfocusing policies, strategies, and interventions on younger populations, especially those living in less urban counties to reverse these trends.
