Waist-to-height ratio index for predicting incidences of hypertension: The ARIRANG study
BMC Public Health Jun 22, 2018
Choi JR, et al. - In this longitudinal study, researchers determined the link between the waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) and incident hypertension in a total of 1718 participants, aged 39–72 years. Based on the development of hypertension during 2005–2008 (baseline) and 2008–2011 (follow-up), 2 groups of participants were formed. To assess WHtR as a significant predictor of hypertension, they used logistic regression models. WHtR was found to be positively associated with the incidence of hypertension in Korean adults. In this community-based prospective study, WHtR was suggested to have utility in providing a better prediction of incident hypertension.
