Visit-to-visit fasting glucose variability in young adulthood and hippocampal integrity and volume at midlife
Diabetes Care Oct 03, 2019
Xiong Z, Li J, Zhong X, et al. - Researchers intended to determine if there is an association between visit-to-visit fasting glucose (VVFG) variability in young adulthood and midlife hippocampal integrity and volume. To estimate the link between VVFG variability and brain MRI variables in 543 CARDIA study candidates, multivariable-adjusted linear regression models were used. At year 25, 3T MRI measured hippocampal integrity fractional anisotropy (FA) and tissue volume standardized to intracranial volume. According to findings, higher variability of VVFG in young adulthood is correlated with reduced integrity and volume of hippocampal midlife, indicating its importance in anticipating the danger of structural harm to the hippocampus.
