van den Brink FS, et al. - This study was designed to elucidate the efficacy as well as safety of veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO) in addition to primary percutaneous coronary intervention (pPCI) in patients presenting with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Findings revealed a high survival rate and good neurological outcome in those who underwent pPCI for STEMI and received VA-ECMO, this finding was true even when the patient was admitted with a cardiac arrest.
