Uveal metastases in the mid-southeastern United States: A single-institution experience

King BA, et al. - Researchers sought to report the clinical features of uveal metastases in a geographic region associated with high tobacco use. Rather than the patients with carcinomas of the breast, intraocular metastasis is more frequently observed in patients with carcinomas of the lung. They noted a likeliness of both regional and global changes in cancer epidemiology to account for the findings in this study. For patients with a primary lung malignancy, median survival following intraocular metastasis was 9 months and it was 36 months for patients with breast cancer.
