Type 2 diabetes is independently associated with all-cause mortality secondary to ventricular tachyarrhythmias
Cardiovascular Diabetology Sep 14, 2018
Weidner K, et al. - In patients presenting with ventricular tachyarrhythmias on admission, authors evaluated the predictive value of type 2 diabetes. Participants were consecutive patients who presented with ventricular tachycardia (VT) and fibrillation (VF) on admission from 2002 to 2016. In patients presenting with ventricular tachyarrhythmias on admission, findings suggested an independent association of the presence of type 2 diabetes with an increase of all-cause mortality. For in-hospital death at index, all-cause mortality at 30 days and after discharge, the rates of secondary endpoints were higher, but not for cardiac death at 24 hours or rehospitalization due to recurrent ventricular tachyarrhythmias.
