Twenty-four-hour central blood pressure is not better associated with hypertensive target organ damage than 24-h peripheral blood pressure
Journal of Hypertension Sep 05, 2017
de la Sierra A, et al. – This study assessed the association of target organ damage (TOD) with 24–h– central versus –peripheral blood pressure (BP). Among hypertensives, TOD was found to be associated with BP elevation, independent of the type of measurement (office or ambulatory, central or peripheral). Even 24 h central BP monitoring, compared with peripheral BP, failed to show a better association with TOD and hence, was not recommended to be routinely measured.
