Treatment of hip articular cartilage delamination with chondrolabral stabilization
Arthroscopy Jan 29, 2021
Economopoulos K, et al. - This study was sought to present the treatment of hip cartilage delamination in a cohort of patients without labral tears using chondrolabral stabilization and compare the results of this technique to patients undergoing labral repair without cartilage delamination. Researchers conducted a retrospective study on patients with cartilage delamination (wave sign) and no labral tear distinguished at the time of surgery creating the Wave Sign Group (WSG). The research enrolled 47 patients in each the WSG and the Labral Tear Group. The results of this study exhibited that the chondrolabral stabilization was found to be an effective treatment for patients with wave signs but no labral tear leading to outcomes similar to patients without chondral delamination undergoing labral repair. At final follow-up, short-term follow-up exhibited similar patient-reported outcomes between the groups.
