Transforaminal endoscopic discectomy vs conventional microdiscectomy for lumbar discherniation: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research Jul 15, 2018
Zhang B, et al. - Experts compared the transforaminal endoscopic discectomy (TED) with open microdiscectomy for lumbar discherniation (LDH). They performed a systematic literature search using the PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library databases for trials written in English. Findings suggested the superiority of transforaminal endoscopic discectomy to open microdiscectomy in the length of hospital stay. Nonetheless, in treating LDH, no differences in leg pain, functional recovery, and incidence of complications between TED and MD were seen.
