Transcatheter edge-to-edge repair for reduction of tricuspid regurgitation: 6-month outcomes of the TRILUMINATE single-arm study
The Lancet Nov 15, 2019
Nickenig G, Weber M, Lurz P, et al. - Via conducting the TRILUMINATE trial, researchers examined the safety and efficacy of TriClip, a minimally invasive transcatheter tricuspid valve repair system, for decreasing tricuspid regurgitation. In this multicentre, single-arm study performed in 21 sites in Europe and the USA, enrollment of 85 patients (mean age 77·8 years [SD 7·9]; 56 [66%] women) was performed. Treatment of participants was performed employing a clip-based edge-to-edge repair technique with the TriClip tricuspid valve repair system. A five-class grading scheme (mild, moderate, severe, massive, and torrential) was used to grade tricuspid regurgitation that expanded on the standard American Society of Echocardiography grading scheme. Outcomes support the safety and efficacy of the TriClip system at reducing tricuspid regurgitation by at least one grade. Patients may display significant clinical improvement at 6 months postprocedure in correlation to this reduction.
