Topography-guided photorefractive keratectomy for postkeratoplasty astigmatism: Long-term outcomes

Cornea Dec 04, 2020

Bizrah M, Lin DTC, Babili A, et al. - Researchers conducted this retrospective interventional case series to assess the long-term effectiveness and safety of topography-guided photorefractive keratectomy for postkeratoplasty refractive error correction. The sample consisted of 50 patients (54 eyes) who underwent previous corneal transplants. Unaided distance visual acuity (UDVA) and best corrected visual acuity, manifest refraction, mean central keratometric value, mean keratometric astigmatism, and postoperative complications have been reviewed. Findings suggested that postkeratoplasty topography–guided photorefractive keratectomy has good long-term efficacy and safety, leading to significant improvement in UDVA, refractive, and keratometric. After the first year of treatment, regression will occur, highlighting the value of long-term follow-up.
