The safety of catheter ablation for premature ventricular contractions in patients without structural heart disease
BMC Cardiovascular Disorders Sep 07, 2018
Wang JS, et al. - Researchers performed this retrospective study with data from patients who underwent ablation for premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) from January 2010 to December 2016 at their hospital to determine the predictive factors for complications and acute procedural success. PVCs localization was categorized as right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT); right ventricle (RV); left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT); left ventricle (LV); epicardium (EPI); and multiple (MULTI) origin. Predictors of procedural complications included locations of LV and EPI for patients with PVCs. Consequently, for these patients they do not recommend ablation. Ablation is a safe and effective treatment for other origins of PVCs, particularly RVOT origin.
