The role of total hip arthroplasty through the direct anterior approach in femoral neck fracture and factors affecting the outcome
Journal of Arthroplasty Sep 07, 2018
Dimitriou D, et al. - Researchers sought to compare the clinical outcomes, perioperative complications, and mortality of total hip arthroplasty (THA) through the direct anterior approach (DAA) between femoral neck fractures (FNF) and elective cases. For patients presenting an FNF, with excellent functional outcomes, less surgery-related complications and lower short- and long-term mortality, a credible and safe option could be THA through the DAA than those reported in the literature. The survival rate could be potentially increased with the early intervention and perioperative stabilization of the patients with FNF.
