The relationship between the atherogenic index of plasma and arterial stiffness in essential hypertensive patients from China: A cross-sectional study
BMC Cardiovascular Disorders May 23, 2021
Yin J, Li M, Yu L, et al. - This cross-sectional analysis was carried out to assess the link between atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) and arterial stiffness in a large real-world population of hypertensive Chinese patients. This study included 4,744 Chinese people with essential hypertension. Experts defined AIP as the base 10 logarithm of the ratio of plasma of triglycerides to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels indicated in molar concentrations. Arterial stiffness was recorded via brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity. Findings showed a positive correlation between AIP and arterial stiffness in Chinese people with essential hypertension, particularly in those having a BMI < 24 kg/m 2 .
