The relationship between knowledge, health literacy and adherence among patients taking oral anticoagulants for stroke thromboprophylaxis in atrial fibrillation

Rolls CA, et al. - This study explored the links between anticoagulant knowledge, health literacy and self-reported adherence in patients taking warfarin and the directly acting oral anticoagulants. Health literacy, oral anticoagulant (OAC) knowledge and adherence were found to be significantly correlated, this needs to be taken into account by health professionals. Serious gaps in OAC knowledge were also observed.
