Hahn B, et al. – The physician aimed to utilize a novel method to assess the relationship between daily emergency department (ED) patient complexity, based on Current Procedure Terminology (CPT) code, and day of the week. No correlation was found between daily ED patient complexity based on CPT code and day of the week or daily ED patient acuity and legal holiday. As per this study, emergency department staffing and resource allocation patterns could need to be revisited.
