The prognostic value of tumour stroma ratio and tumour budding in stage II colon cancer. A nationwide population-based study
International Journal of Colorectal Disease Jul 24, 2018
Eriksen AC, et al. - A nationwide population-based cohort study was conducted to examine the prognostic value of tumor stroma ratio (TSR) and tumor budding (TB) in high-risk patients with stage II colon cancer (CC). Participants in the study were 573 patients with stage II CC. For recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS), the prognostic value was examined via Cox proportional hazard models. The findings from the present study suggested that TSR provided valuable prognostic information. It was observed that adding TSR to the current risk stratification might contribute to better patient selection. Researchers reported that the estimates of TSR and TB were found to be correlated. However, no prognostic value of TB was documented.
