The prognostic value of positive T wave in lead aVR: A novel marker of adverse cardiac outcomes in peripartum cardiomyopathy
Annals of Noninvasive Electrocardiology Jun 26, 2019
Ekizler FA, et al. - Researchers studied a total of 82 patients (mean age 29.1 ± 6.3 years) with the diagnosis of peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM) for the prevalence and prognostic role of positive T waves in lead aVR (TaVR). Findings revealed higher rates for persistent left ventricular systolic dysfunction, arrhythmic events, and cardiac death among patients with positive TaVR vs without it. They suggest that for patients with PPCM, positive TaVR, as a simple and feasible electrocardiographic marker, appears a novel predictor of adverse cardiovascular outcomes.
