The prognostic value of fragmented QRS in patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation
Journal of Electrocardiology Jul 25, 2018
Ay NK, et al. - Researchers performed this retrospective cohort study, including 117 patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) to treat severe aortic stenosis, to determine how fragmented QRS (fQRS) morphology predicts long-term prognosis in patients undergoing TAVI due to severe aortic stenosis. On the basis of the presence (n=36) or absence (n=81) of fQRS, two groups of patients were formed. They assessed predictors of long-term survival. Findings point to the potential of fQRS (an indirect indicator of myocardial fibrosis) to be used as a prognostic marker after TAVI procedure when present on ECG since the fQRS group had higher in-hospital mortality.
