The prognostic significance of aortic lymph node metastasis in endometrial cancer: Potential implications for selective aortic lymph node assessment
Gynecologic Oncology Apr 03, 2019
Cosgrove CM, et al. - Researchers examined how aortic vs pelvic lymph node (LN) metastasis influence the prognosis in women with endometrial cancer (EC) using data from the SEER 18 Registries. They analyzed data of 3650 women with LN positive (stage IIIC) EC. Women with stage IIIC1 had endometrioid tumors more commonly while those with stage IIIC2 had non-endometrioid histologies more commonly. Death was more frequently reported for women with aortic LN positive EC from their disease. Aortic LN involvement was more frequent among older women and with non-endometrioid histologies. They observed lower EC mortality among women with pelvic and aortic dissections than women with a pelvic-only LN dissection.
