The outcome of surgical management of proximal humeral fractures using locking plates: Comparison between locking plates with different geometry
Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Jul 19, 2018
Chen JL, et al. - Experts compared Zimmer Periarticular Locking Plate (ZPLP) treatment to Proximal Humeral Internal Locking System (PHILOS) treatment with regard to the outcome of surgical management of proximal humeral fractures. When the ZPLP was used vs the PHILOS locking plate, the amount of postoperative impaction was significantly higher. Another critical factor that affects surgical outcome was the medial calcar support. Nonetheless, they did not note any significant differences in functional outcomes (Constant-Murley score) between the ZPLP System and the PHILOS at the 12-month follow-up.
