The impact of microsurgical repair of subclinical and clinical varicoceles on total motile sperm count: Is there a difference?

Urology Jul 09, 2018

Thirumavalavan N, et al. - Experts ascertained whether subclinical varicocele repair produces similar results to palpable varicocele repair. Similar, clinically meaningful improvement in total motile sperm count (TMC) after varicocele repair was seen in men with subclinical varicoceles vs men with palpable varicoceles. A total of 22% out of the patients starting in intrauterine insemination (IUI) category transitioned to natural pregnancy category. Findings did not suggest any difference in the proportion of men who “upgraded” between palpable or subclinical varicoceles.
