The epidemiology of low back pain and injury in dance: A systematic review
Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy Apr 04, 2019
Swain CTV, et al. - Researchers sought to determine the epidemiology of low back pain (LBP) and low back injury (LBI) in dance populations via performing a systematic review and synthesis. The final systematic review included 50 full-text articles. The included studies showed considerable methodological heterogeneity. Findings suggest the vulnerability of dancers to LBP and LBI. They suggest using definitions sensitive to the complexity of LBP and LBI to enhance the understanding of the problem within dance, inform health care strategies, and monitor LBP-specific intervention outcomes.
