The efficacy and safety of high-dose daptomycin in the treatment of complicated skin and soft tissue infections in Asians
International Journal of Infectious Diseases Apr 08, 2020
Dong XM, Xu NN, Yao YY, et al. - Researchers investigated the efficacy and safety of standard-dose (SD) daptomycin vs high-dose (HD) daptomycin in complicated skin and soft tissue infections (cSSTIs) in an Asian population. From three medical centers, they recruited 155 patients in this retrospective study, including 108 patients receiving 4 mg/kg (SD group) and 47 patients receiving daptomycin at doses ≥ 6 mg/kg (HD group). As per results of multivariate analysis, an independent effector for early clinical stabilization is high-dose daptomycin. High-dose daptomycin led to an increase in the rate of early clinical stabilization in Asian patients with cSSTIs, but not in the incidence of adverse events, compared with standard-dose daptomycin.
