The effect of topical piperine combined with narrowband UVB on vitiligo treatment: A clinical trial study
Phytotherapy Research Jun 15, 2018
Shafiee A, et al. - In this work, the effect of topical piperine combined with narrowband ultraviolet B (NB-UVB) on vitiligo treatment was evaluated for the first time. In this double-blind clinical trial, 63 patients with facial vitiligo were treated with either piperine (case) or placebo (control). NB-UVB phototherapy was administered on every other day for 3 months to the two groups. As per outcomes, the combination therapy with NB-UVB/topical piperine had more influence on facial vitiligo than that of NB-UVB alone. Thereby suggesting a remarkable effect of the simultaneous use of NB-UVB and topical piperine on the treatment of vitiligo.
