Obesity Surgery Apr 17, 2019
Ji G, et al. - Researchers assessed the impact of bariatric surgery on glycemic control in patients with body mass index (BMI) < 30 kg/m2, with a focus on the Asian population. In this meta-analysis, they examined 12 studies (n=697). Significant improvement in weight, glycemic control, lipid profiles, and β-cell function could be achieved in short and medium terms after bariatric surgery in Asian patients with type 2 diabetes and BMI < 30 kg/m2, according to findings. However, the investigators noted the necessity for long-term follow-up to evaluate efficacy.
