The associations between socioeconomic status and risk of Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia and subsequent endocarditis â A Danish nationwide cohort study

Oestergaard LB, et al. – Given socioeconomic status (SES) influences the risk of infectious diseases in general, this work was performed to investigate the association between SES and Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia (SAB), and risk of subsequent endocarditis in a nationwide adult population. Findings reveal an association of decreasing SES with an increased risk of SAB, particularly in younger adults. SES seems not associated with risk of subsequent endocarditis.
