The association between progesterone receptor expression and survival in women with adult granulosa cell tumors
Gynecologic Oncology Mar 23, 2019
Puechl AM, et al. - In this multicenter, retrospective analysis of women with granulosa cell tumors (GCT), researchers assessed the link between estrogen receptor (ER) and progesterone receptor (PR) expression patterns and clinical outcomes in these patients. They used formalin-fixed paraffin embedded tumor tissue and determined ER and PR expression by using immunohistochemical staining. They also gathered demographics, disease status, and survival data. Using univariate Cox proportional hazards models, they determined the links between ER and PR staining scores and recurrence-free and overall survival. Both decreased recurrence-free and overall survival were observed in relation to high PR composite score (≥9) in patients with GCT. There was no link between ER expression and survival outcomes.
