Nutrition, Metabolism & Cardiovascular Diseases Oct 17, 2017
Im IJ, et al. - Major predictors of arteriosclerosis were determined in this study, along with an evaluation of the link between arterial stiffness as measured by cardio-ankle vascular index (CAVI) and muscle mass deficit (MMD) estimated by bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) in middle-aged men. Findings demonstrated a positive association of MMD estimated from BIA with arterial stiffness among the study participants. A close interaction between low muscle mass and cardiovascular risk was highlighted.
