Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism Feb 10, 2020
Casagrande SS, et al. - Researchers conducted this cross-sectional study to explore the connection between heart rate and glycemic status in a nationally representative sample of US adults, and, among adults with diagnosed diabetes, the link between heart rate and A1c level. Participants in the study were US general adult population, aged ≥ 20 years, who had information on glycemic status based on self-report, A1c, and fasting plasma glucose (N = 8,562). According to findings, adjusted mean heart rate was higher among diabetes patients and increased glycemia that may reflect underlying autonomic and/or myocardial dysfunction among diabetes patients.
