Ten- and 20-year survivorship of the hip after periacetabular osteotomy for acetabular dysplasia
Journal of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Mar 28, 2019
Ziran N, et al. - Researchers analyzed the 10- and 20-year survivorship after periacetabular osteotomy (PAO) along with the functional outcomes and radiographic parameters. In the cohort of 302 hips, they observed almost 86% and 60% of 10- and 20-year survivorship of the native hip after PAO, respectively. They recorded older age at the time of PAO and higher Tonnis grade as negative prognostic factors for joint survival following PAO. They found good functional outcomes of surviving hips after PAO even up to 20 years after surgery. They reported no unusual difference in survivorship between male and female candidates.
