Temporal trends in the clinical acuity of patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction

Krishnan U, et al. – The variations in the clinical features and in–hospital case fatality rate of the ST–elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) population treated with early percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) were inspected in this trial. A decline was noted in the risk–adjusted in–hospital mortality. An increase in comorbidities and in the proportion of patients presenting with extreme–risk features could elucidate the overall “null” effect in terms of in–hospital mortality, irrespective of the improvements in timely reperfusion.
