Superior capsular reconstruction for massive rotator cuff tear leads to significant improvement in range of motion and clinical outcomes: A systematic review
Arthroscopy Mar 19, 2019
Sochacki KR, et al. - Data from 292 shoulders of 286 subjects with mean age 63.4 ± 4.1 years for a mean follow-up of 25.7 ± 14.5 months was quantified to evaluate the patient-reported outcomes and shoulder range of motion due to superior capsular reconstruction for massive rotator cuff tear. Authors recorded significant improvement in the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) score in 5 studies and visual analog scale (VAS) scores in 3 studies. They observed graft failure in 36 candidates on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). They noted complications in 3.8% of subjects whereas 11.7% of cases underwent reoperation.
