Superior capsular reconstruction: A systematic review of surgical techniques and clinical outcomes
Arthroscopy Dec 14, 2020
Gao I, Sochacki KR, Freehill MT, et al. - This study was attempted to assess surgical techniques and clinical outcomes of arthroscopic superior capsular reconstruction (SCR) for the treatment of massive irreparable rotator cuff tears. Researchers registered a systematic review with PROSPERO and conducted using PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses) guidelines. They carried out to search PubMed, Scopus, and Cochrane databases. They also included studies investigating SCR with reported surgical techniques. They excluded animal studies, cadaveric studies, review studies, and letters to the editor. In the analysis, 365 articles were screened, of which 29 described surgical techniques for SCR. The results exhibited that many surgical techniques exist for arthroscopic SCR. Nevertheless, they did not find a superior technique because there were no studies comparing clinical outcomes among these various techniques.
