Structural neurodegeneration correlates with early diabetic retinopathy
International Ophthalmology Jul 20, 2018
Frydkjaer-Olsen U, et al. - Authors assessed the differences in structural and functional neurodegenerative measurements between patients with no and early diabetic retinopathy (DR). Findings suggested an association of structural neurogenic characteristics with DR in patients with type 2 diabetes. In the pathogenesis of DR, complex neurovascular interaction is an early event; as indicated by the findings when confirmed by larger prospective studies. DR and multifocal electroretinography (mf-ERG) outcomes were not seen to be correlated.
