Stromal peeling for deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty in post-penetrating keratoplasty eyes
British Journal of Ophthalmology Dec 04, 2020
Bovone C, Nahum Y, Scorcia V, et al. - In the present study, the researchers sought to evaluate the clinical outcomes of deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty performed by stromal peeling in eyes that have previously undergone penetrating keratoplasty (PK) for keratoconus. Stromal exchange can be carried out in post-PK eyes by easy peeling without deep anterior lamellar dissection of the previous PK graft. Through stromal peeling, large-diameter (9 mm) repeat keratoplasty results in excellent visual results and minimal endothelial cell loss. The postoperative course can be complicated by double anterior chamber formation, but timely intervention permits successful management.
