Stroke risk and risk factors in patients with central retinal artery occlusion
American Journal of Ophthalmology Aug 31, 2018
Lavin P, et al. - In patients with central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO), authors evaluated the yield of standardized and systematic evaluation of risk factors. In addition, they assessed the frequency of stroke for these patients. Results demonstrated a significant risk of future cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events in patients with CRAO. Oftenly, these patients have undiagnosed risk factors that may be modifiable. Similar risk of subsequent stroke, myocardial infarction and death were seen in the patients with CRAO as patients with the high-risk transient ischemic attack.
