Standardized bleeding definitions after transbronchial lung biopsy: A Delphi consensus statement from the Nashville Working Group
Chest Feb 22, 2020
Folch EE, Mahajan AK, Oberg CL, et al. - A novel scale tailored to evaluate bleeding severity for patients undergoing flexible bronchoscopy with transbronchial lung biopsies was developed, employing the modified Delphi method, by an international group of bronchoscopists. Cessation criteria were defined a priori and involved attaining > 80% consensus among the experts or three rounds, whichever happened first. The scale was constructed by 36 expert bronchoscopists from 8 countries, both in academic as well as community practice settings. They made two iterations following the live meeting. All 36 participants vetted the second and final scale, with a weighted average of 4.47/5; 53% and 47% were satisfied and very satisfied, respectively. A consensus was reached and the Nashville Bleeding Scale was proposed by the panel.
