European Journal of Internal Medicine May 23, 2018
Gómez-Doblas JJ, et al. - Using the data from PEGASO (Pronóstico de la Estenosis Grave Aórtica Sintomática del Octogenario), a prospective registry that determines the prevalence of significant mitral regurgitation (MR) among a population of octogenarians and its influence on treatment and prognosis. In this investigation, the researchers consecutively involved nine hundred twenty-eight patients aged ≥80 years with severe symptomatic aortic stenosis. The findings from the present study suggested that significant MR had a high prevalence and worsens the prognosis of octogenarian patients with severe symptomatic aortic stenosis, particularly in patients with conservative treatment, independently of the existence of comorbidities.
