Sex differences in quality of life in patients with atrial fibrillation: A systematic review

Strømnes LA, et al. – In this systematic review of 25 studies, researchers assessed sex differences in quality of life (QoL) among patients with atrial fibrillation (AF), and determined if these differences may be attributed to AF. Across studies, poorer QoL was consistently reported for female patients with AF compared with male patients with AF, and female vs male patients with AF tended for have more symptoms. However, whether this reflects sex disparities evident in the general population or is associated with AF per se was not clearly addressed in the available literature.
