Safety of outpatient single-level cervical total disc replacement: A propensity-matched multi-institutional study

Spine Apr 25, 2019

Bovonratwet P, et al. - Researchers performed a retrospective cohort comparison study of 373 outpatient and 1612 inpatient single-level cervical total disc replacement (CTDR) procedures, with the aim to examine the perioperative adverse event profile of CTDR performed as an outpatient relative to inpatient procedure. Outcomes suggest that in the outpatient setting, single-level CTDR can be safely performed in appropriately selected patients without increased rates of 30-day perioperative complications or readmissions, compared with inpatient CTDR or outpatient single-level ACDF.
