Safety and tolerability of sacubitril/valsartan initiation in inpatient vs outpatient setting: A retrospective real world study
Heart, Lung, and Circulation Oct 08, 2020
Chng BLK, Hon JS, Chan H, et al. - By analyzing patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (aged ≥21 years) initiated with sacubitril/valsartan in Singapore, researchers compared the safety as well as the tolerability of sacubitril/valsartan initiation in an inpatient vs outpatient setting in this retrospective real-world study. There were 1,022 patients who underwent screening, of those, 840 were included. Higher adverse drug reactions and discontinuation rates were reported in relation to the initiation of sacubitril/valsartan in an inpatient group vs an outpatient group in an Asian population. However, in the inpatient cohort, sacubitril/valsartan could be tolerated by most of the patients, therefore, initiating this drug with close monitoring would still be feasible.
