Safety and efficacy of transpupillary silicone oil removal in combination with micro-incision phacoemulsification cataract surgery: Comparison with 23-gauge approach
BMC Ophthalmology Aug 22, 2018
Xu W, et al. - Authors assessed the safety and effectiveness of transpupillary silicone oil removal combined with micro-incision phacoemulsification cataract surgery. They also compared the results of transpupillary with 23-gauge 3-port vitrectomy approach. Findings suggested a less invasiveness of transpupillary silicone oil removal combined with micro-incision phacoemulsification cataract surgery and can be an alternative in some circumstances. Lower IOP at postoperative day 2 resulted with the transpupillary approach, while no significant difference was revealed with postoperative follow-up at 1 month.
