Risk factors for disease progression in low-teens normal-tension glaucoma

British Journal of Ophthalmology May 08, 2019

Baek SU, et al. - Researchers retrospectively analyzed 102 eyes of 102 patients with normal-tension glaucoma (NTG) with pretreatment intraocular pressure (IOP)≤12 mm Hg who had been followed up for more than 60 months, for risk factors for disease progression in the low-teens. They identified 36 patients (35.3%) as progressors and 66 (64.7%) as non-progressors. Greater diurnal IOP at baseline, greater fluctuation of diastolic BP and presence of optic disc haemorrhage during follow-up were the risk factors for glaucoma progression as per the multivariate Cox proportional hazards model.
