Rhinovirus viremia in patients hospitalized with community acquired pneumonia
The Journal of Infectious Diseases Oct 17, 2017
Lu X, et al. - This work was planned to assess the prevalence of Rhinoviruse (RV) viremia and its value as a diagnostic indicator in persons hospitalized with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP). Findings revealed that more than one out of seven RV-infected children <10 years old hospitalized with CAP were viremic. Contrary to other RV species, RV-C infections seemed to have a high association with viremia and more often the only respiratory pathogen identified, suggesting that RV-C viremia could be a significant diagnostic indicator in pediatric pneumonia.
