Retrospective long-term follow-up survival analysis of the management of osteonecrosis of the femoral head with pedicled vascularized iliac bone graft transfer
Journal of Arthroplasty Apr 07, 2019
Xie H, et al. - Authors evaluated 1006 hips of 856 individuals to estimate the outcomes of vascularized iliac bone flap transfer for osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) treatment. They observed a lower survival rate for subjects in the glucocorticoid group as compared to that for cases in the idiopathic, alcoholic, and trauma groups. They noticed the physical component summary (PSC) scores ranging from 78±10 to 85±14 postoperatively vs 30±14 to 55±15 preoperatively. Significantly higher postoperative mental component summary (MCS) scores (range from 34±11 to 59±12) were recorded vs the preoperative scores (range from 72±11 to 90±10), symbolizing great improvement in patient quality of life.
