Repair of traumatic avulsed achilles tendon using double cerclage trans-calcaneal stainless steel sutures: Prospective study and review of literature
Injury Jun 12, 2020
Hosny H, Salama W, Marzouk A, et al. - In this investigation involving seven patients (six males and one female) with sleeve avulsion of the achilles tendon, researchers sought to analyze the clinical outcome and safety for using double cerclage stainless steel sutures for fixation of achilles sleeve avulsion fracture. Only post traumatic cases were involved in this analysis. Repair of the avulsed tendon had been done for all patients using double cerclage stainless steel sutures. All patients have been followed for at least 24 months. The mean time to get back to work was about 15 weeks. Findings suggested that double cerclage stainless steel sutures can be used safely with a satisfactory clinical outcome for treating patients with achilles sleeve avulsion fractures. The outcomes for the patients and for the surgeon are satisfactory.
