Relationship between neutrophil-lymphocyte, platelet-lymphocyte ratio and disease activity in rheumatoid arthritis treated with rituximab
International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases Oct 24, 2018
Sargin G, et al. - Authors assessed the relationship between neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) ratio and disease activity in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients treated with rituximab. They included 38 patients (8 male, 30 female, mean age 56.8 ± 11.8 years) diagnosed with RA and 30 healthy controls. Compared to the healthy controls, the NLR and PLR were higher and in patients with RA, these correlated with disease Activity Score of 28 joints - erythrocyte sedimentation rate (DAS28-ESR). With rituximab, these parameters which are indicative of disease activity, decreased and correlated with disease activity at 6 months. Findings suggested a probable utility of NLR and PLR to evaluate RA disease activity treated with rituximab.
