Relation between pulmonary venous flow and left atrial pressure during percutaneous mitral valve repair with the mitraclip
American Journal of Cardiology Jul 29, 2018
Ikenaga H, et al. - Researchers investigated the pulmonary venous (PV) flow parameters that can determine left atrial (LA) pressure during MitraClip procedure via analyzing 575 PV flows in 290 patients using transesophageal echocardiography before and after MitraClip procedure. Measured PV flow parameters included peak systolic velocity, diastolic velocity, systolic velocity time integral, diastolic velocity time integral and those systolic to diastolic ratio. Observations suggest an immediate increase in systolic PV flow velocity in response to mitral regurgitation reduction during MitraClip procedure. They identified PV flow velocity, specifically systolic to diastolic ratio, as valuable to evaluate invasively determined LA pressure.
